Founders Day
Founders Day, the anniversary of the formation of National PTA in 1897, is a reminder of the substantial role that PTA has played locally, regionally, and nationally in supporting parent involvement and working on behalf of all children and families. It's a time to reflect and take pride in our many accomplishments, and to renew our commitment to be a powerful voice for all children, a relevant resource for parents, and a strong advocate for public education.
NISD Council of PTAs hosts its annual Founders Day Dinner to celebrate the accomplishments of our Northside schools. Membership and Jack C Jordan Scholarship Penny Drive awards are announced and volunteers who have given of themselves to the betterment of our children are recognized.
This year's Founders Day Dinner will be held in the Red Oak Ballroom
at the Norris Conference Center located in Crossroads Mall (Loop 410 at
I-H10) on February 4, 2010. The main entrance to the Red Oak Ballroom is
on the Target side of the mall facing Loop 410.
Tickets are $15 per person, and due to space
limitations, each PTA may purchase up to 9 tickets. To purchase tickets,
please send a check made payable to NISD Council of PTAs to
Council
Treasurer, Roland Garza in care of PTA, at Stevenson
MS. Tickets may also be purchased at the January
Council meeting.
This year we will also hold a silent auction during the Founders Day
Dinner. Each PTA is asked to donate to basket to the auction. The basket and
a list of the contents including the value can be dropped off at Helotes
Elementary or Potranco Automotive. The deadline to turn in baskets is
January 26. The funds
raised will be used to offset to cost of the 2011 Founders Day Dinner.
Guidelines for Decorations:
- Hours to decorate are 8am to 3pm.
- If you bring a dessert, remember to also bring forks/spoons and
dessert plates.
- Bring a tablecloth (white).
- Please no candles, confetti, helium balloons, or decorations higher
than 18".
- Theme for decorations is "Hats off to PTA".
Social Time 5:30pm
Dinner Service 6:15pm
Program 7:00pm
Dinner is being catered by Warren and Stevens High Schools.
Menu: chicken alfredo on linguini noodles, sautéed
green beans, buttered corn, white or wheat rolls, tea and water.
